Han Group is seeking a Not-for-Profit Tax Senior Manager to lead complex nonprofit tax engagements and serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders. This role combines deep technical expertise, client relationship management, staff development, and practice leadership within a specialized nonprofit tax practice.
The Senior Manager works closely with firm leadership and plays a key role in engagement oversight, technical review, mentoring, and business development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a full range of federal and state tax compliance, planning, and consulting services to tax-exempt organizations and nonprofit healthcare entities.
- Lead and review complex nonprofit tax filings, including Forms 990, 990-EZ, 990-PF, 990-T, and related state filings.
- Advice clients on unrelated business income, excise taxes, governance matters, public support tests, and private foundation compliance.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for nonprofit executives, finance leadership, and boards.
- Manage multiple client engagements concurrently, ensuring quality, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct primary and secondary reviews of complex tax returns and related deliverables.
- Develop, mentor, and evaluate managers, seniors, and associates; provide ongoing technical and leadership coaching.
- Collaborate with firm leadership on client management, practice development, and business development initiatives.
- Assist with proposals, client presentations, and expansion of services to existing clients.
- Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations and strengthen long-term relationships.
- Travel as need (minimal anticipated travel).
Qualifications:
- Active CPA license (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive not-for-profit federal tax consulting and/or compliance experience public accounting or a combination of public accounting and industry.
- At least 10 years of specialization in nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations.
- Extensive experience with Forms 990, 990-T, and 990-PF.
- Strong technical expertise in nonprofit tax-compliance, unrelated business income, excise taxes, and other tax issues affecting tax-exempt entities.
- Exceptional client service and communication skills, including experience presenting to nonprofit boards and senior leadership.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage engagements, and mentor professionals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting.
- Demonstrated business development and practice growth experience.
- Strong recruiting, training, coaching, and performance management skills.
- Excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Interest in long-term leadership within a specialized nonprofit advisory firm.
