The Challenge: Foul Forms for Fundraising

Nonprofit fundraisers know the importance of a properly completed and filed Form 990. Grantmakers and funders often look to this form as evidence of a nonprofit’s financial health. The board treasurer for this nonprofit realized that its 990 had not been filed properly—and even worse, the form represented them poorly. Upon further investigation, the treasurer found it was done by a firm that did not have expertise in the nonprofit sector or in preparing 990 forms.

The Service: Tax

It was clear to Han Group staff that this nonprofit needed to not only correctly file its 990, but also leverage it for more fundraising success. Once engaged, Han Group provided valuable advice and recommendations to staff that helped them implement proper policies and internal controls. The next year, these policies were front and center on its Form 990, which turned this required tax form into a great tool for growth.
