Nonprofit-only accounting: why Han Group exists.
Every engagement is nonprofit work because nonprofit work is the only work we do. That is the entire premise the firm was built on, and it has been since 2008.

Why we made nonprofit work the only work we do.
Eighteen years ago, Han Group made a deliberate choice: serve nonprofits exclusively. Not as a specialty inside a broader practice, but as the entire premise of the firm. That meant walking away from the for-profit relationships a typical CPA firm builds its revenue around, in exchange for depth in exactly one discipline: nonprofit accounting, audit, and tax.
The firm began in Virginia and expanded on the same premise it started with. Today it is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The McLean office places the practice inside Northern Virginia’s federal-contractor corridor, and New York extended the foundation and national-charity work to the financial district. What that has produced is eight partners, more than 500 nonprofit clients served, and four offices serving one sector.

What that focus produces.
Every partner at Han Group builds their practice exclusively around nonprofit accounting standards: FASB ASC 958, Uniform Guidance, 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) tax rules. The practical effect shows up in the judgment calls that don’t have an obvious textbook answer, where pattern recognition built across hundreds of nonprofit engagements is the difference between getting it right and getting it close.
Financial credibility is the entire point.
Nonprofits operate under a trust burden most organizations never face: every dollar is scrutinized by a board, a funder, a regulator, and often a donor checking a public Form 990. Credibility is expensive to rebuild once questioned, and the questioning rarely announces itself. It arrives as a grant that does not renew, or a board that stops trusting the numbers in front of it. A firm built exclusively around this sector builds every process around protecting that credibility.

What we value.
Stewardship.
We treat every client’s financial position as our own responsibility to protect. That means flagging a concern before it becomes a finding, not waiting to be asked. The work demands that level of care at every stage of every engagement.
Precision.
Every engagement, regardless of size, meets the same technical standard. A small nonprofit’s Single Audit receives the same rigor as a major foundation’s, because the consequences do not scale down with the organization.
Partnership.
Your mission becomes our mission. We build the kind of ongoing relationship where we are already thinking about your next compliance question before you have to ask it, and available between engagement cycles, not just during them.

Milestones.
Han Group has served 500+ nonprofit clients over 18 years of nonprofit-exclusive practice, with an eight-partner CPA bench as of July 1, 2026, operating from three offices: Washington DC, McLean VA, and New York NY. In 2025, accountingTODAY named Han Group a Best Firm to Work For, recognition that reflects the same partnership-driven culture that shapes how we serve clients.
Our eighteen-year anniversary lands on August 8, 2026. Every year of nonprofit-exclusive practice adds to the pattern recognition and technical depth that a firm splitting attention across industries has not had the chance to build.
The Nonprofit Leadership Exchange.
Being a nonprofit-exclusive firm means more than serving clients well. It means convening the sector. The Nonprofit Leadership Exchange is Han Group’s forum for that: webinars, peer roundtables, and board governance education for the people whose decisions shape nonprofit financial health.
Gathering finance leaders and board members from across the sector produces a broader view of its challenges than billable work alone can. What surfaces in those conversations feeds back into how our partners approach the work.

Every mission deserves a financial partner.
Eighteen years in, the next conversation still starts the same way. Tell us what your organization is working through and a partner will follow up directly.
